One night, for a race...

...We%26#39;re not interested in doing Vegas stuff, we%26#39;ll be there one night for the Baker-to-Vegas relay race.

Can anyone recommend a hotel, preferably non-smoking and quiet without a casino, that%26#39;s under $200 a night? I like nice bedlinens and a good restaurant would be a plus.

Sounds like the Platinum hotel might be perfect for you. Here%26#39;s the website -

Thanks, it does sound perfect but even their AARP rate is pricey and over $200. Seems to me I should be able to find something for less.

Try the Renaissance next to the convention center. No casino, nice rooms, very quiet but close to restaurants. There are also two Embassy Suites in town that would be good.

South Point is a casino, but has nice rooms, good beds and fat screen tvs. The rooms are less than two years old and have never smelled smoky.

Hope you%26#39;re not trying for a Saturday night, when room rates almost double in Vegas.

Hotels.com has a couple of spots left for their ';solitaire suite'; for $199 on 4/19 (I hit TA%26#39;s %26#39;check rates%26#39; button). With taxes you%26#39;d go over 200, but just thought you should know... just in case you don%26#39;t find anything else to your liking.

I have to agree with Corgimom... Renaissance would probably be a good choice too. They seem to be running about $150 that night (if 4/19 is the night you%26#39;re referring to). I have a little time on my hands tonight so I checked for ya. ;)

ripgirl, I checked Expedia and the Platinum and Desert Rose, both high in popularity, are on a spring sale for under $200. I%26#39;m excited! Now to do more research if time allows. I haven%26#39;t checked the other recommendations yet.

I checked on the Renaissance and it is reasonably priced (yes, it is a Saturday night, April 19) and sounds nice.

I love Embassy Suites%26#39; breakfast, but rooms can be noisy because of the atrium.

There are quite a few choices for me, including two different Hilton timeshare/suites places.

Renaissance is less expensive than Platinum. Are there any significant differences?

Thanks to you both. I am booked at the Renaissance for a total of $138.43 (AARP rate!).

We%26#39;re not guaranteed a king-sized bed, but separate beds might be best before a race! Gotta save energy.

Thanks again! I can%26#39;t imagine getting a better deal than that for such a nice place with good bed linens. I%26#39;d eat too much at an Embassy Suites breakfast anyway.

You%26#39;re welcome, and congrats on finding a good situation. Hope you have a great time and good luck at the race!

Thanks again!

The Renaissance was perfect and so was the location, as the finish line was at the Hilton on the other side of the convention center.

Next time we%26#39;ll stay at one of the nearby suites hotels for the microwave and additional space if we can get a good rate.

I don%26#39;t yet know how the teams placed, but my hubbie was pleased with his time and I was pleased that he finished in good shape, as some didn%26#39;t.
