Distance to main resort pools

Hi, We (late 20%26#39;s couple) had settled on the mandalay bay after A LOT of research for our first trip to vegas in September but now we%26#39;ve heard about the Sinature at MGM Grand and TheHotel at the Mandalay Bay. We can get them for the same place as the regular hotels- just about- and now they%26#39;re in the mix. Are they away from all the action? between the 2 which is further away from the main resort pools? do they have significantly more of a wow factor from the regular hotels?

Distance to main resort pools

The Sig is farther away from ';the action'; than where the Grand Tower or West Wing elevators let you out. But the great thing about the Sig is it%26#39;s walkway lets you out right by the pool entrance to the MGM Pools!

Not an expert on MB or THEhotel, but here%26#39;s the property maps to MB and the pool area.

If pool area is of extreme importance to you, then you would be happier at MB and/or TheHotel than you would be at the Sig. In fact, I don%26#39;t think the Sig is what you are looking for from what you%26#39;ve said.

99% of the time, if you can get THEHotel or Signature at the same price as a standard room at either MB of MGM, then you should probably do it. There are a few caveats however.

If your primary concern is the distance to the pool, then skip the THEHotel, its a pretty good hike out to the pool whereas the main MB hotel elevators drop you pretty much right next to the pool area. The opposite is true for MGM. Signature is closer to the pool area than the main hotel elevators but it is also further away from everything else, including the strip.

For your first trip, I would skip Signature. It is not your ';typical'; Vegas Hotel/Casino experience. It is much more laid back than the casino itself and I think it would take away a little from the whole excitement of a first trip to Vegas.

I would go with the THEHotel and the extra walk. The room is considerably better and besides, plan on doing a WHOLE bunch of walking on your first trip.

Depends what you define as %26#39;the action%26#39;.

With the opening of the new Wet Republic ultra-pool, the Signature is closest by far to that action. Actually, there are 16 pools very close to the Signature. 3 Signature pools, 5 MGM Grand pools and 8 new pools at the ultra-lounge/pool now just opened, adjacent to the Signature.

Those who think that the Signature is away from the action are not keeping up. Grand opening of the new ultra-pool/lounge is set for this weekend.

People tend to make a big deal about the distance from the hotel to the pool. You said you are in your late 20%26#39;s, it shouldnt be an issue, its really not far away. If you stay at regular mandalay bay you ocme off teh elvator and you walk a litte, if you stay in The Hotel you either walk through the casino and then you are where everyone else in Mandalay Bay start from. Maybe a 10 minute walk....no bid geal compared to the amount of walking Vegas entail.

I would recommend TheHotel hands down. The Mandalay pool is great and TheHotel rooms are awesome. I have seen a few celebrities at the Mandalay casino and have never seen one at the MGM. However, with Wet Republic opening up, that may change.

Yes, you do have a bit of a walk to the pool when staying at TheHotel, but the atmosphere at the Mandalay Bay more than makes up for that.
