A lot of the discussion about taxis using the tunnel seems to be about trips FROM the airport. Is it an issue GOING to the airport? We (family of four, 2kids) are staying at the Excalibur and planning on leaving the hotel at 10am on a Friday for a midday flight to San Francisco. Am I right in believing it is a relatively short trip that should go along Tropicana Boulevard and not use the tunnel?
Appreciate any advice.

You are correct. I have never had to tell them not to take the tunnel going back to the Airport and that has been from MGM or Bellagio.
