Prime Steakhose Opinion and other restaurants

Hi there guys.

Heading to California as part of our honeymoon in 2 days and ending up in Vegas and I was hoping to get some info on some restaurants.

We are in Vegas for 4 nights and were trying to short list some restaurants.

We are staying in the Bellagio so were planning on going to Prime or Olives. I think we are going to Prime after hearing about it having views of the fountains as well. Is it a good idea to book a table outside or is it better to eat inside and then head out for a drink afterwards? Is Prime a good steakhouse on anyones experiances? Or should we go to Olives and try steak somewhere else?

We were also thinking of eating at Top of the World at Stratosphere then make the most of the Lounge there to, also we have Mon Ami Gabi on our list too. We were thinking of the Effiel tower restaurant, but we dont really want to over work the views of the fountains at the Bellagio. We will be in Vegas on mid week days, but I am guessing I should book the days I want. Can I request a window seat at the Stratosphere on booking?

Thanks guys.

You have multiple questions that could best be answered by typing each of the property name in the ';search'; area on your upper right.

Why not just go up the Eiffel Tower and look at the view, no need to eat there. It is quite good, but overpriced for what you get. Same with Top of The World, overpriced. If you want a wonderful restaurant with a view, then I%26#39;d say Alize at the Palms would be a great place to go. Excellent service, delicious food and wonderful views of the strip and Vegas.

You asked about Prime, it is outstanding! I was just there again two weeks ago. You don%26#39;t eat dinner outside, they do offer appetizers, drinks, dessert and coffee out there, though. The food is to die for delicious at Prime, both the steaks and other food. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful and the service is excellent. You need to request the pre dinner drinks and.or after dinner coffee etc with the restaurant ahead of time and remind them when you arrive for your reservation.

Olives is also excellent, totally different from Prime, you could have a nice lunch there. It%26#39;s not as elegant as Prime or Alize but is wonderful. Also, Mon Ami Gabi is a step down from these other places, it%26#39;s a good place for lunch though.

You need to be making reservations now, these restaurants are booked way in advance. Since you are staying at Bellagio, contact the conscierge there and ask them to make reservations for you if they can. You%26#39;ve waited so long, it might be hard to get them especially at places like Prime and Alize so please take care of it today if you can.

Top of the World is good fun and the views are truly amazing. However, the whole feel of the place is a little dated compared to some of the other places you have mentioned. You don%26#39;t need to worry about booking a window seat as they all have good views due to banked seating.

I would not go out of my way to revisit Mon Ami especially if you are already dining somewhere that has great views of the fountains.

Two other places that I would really recommend;

Mix at Mandalay Bay - equally good views as Windows but a much more contemporary feel and better food.

Bouchon at The Venetian - Thomas Keller is one of the top 3 American chefs (French Laundry) and this is a fantastic restaurant. If you can%26#39;t fit in dinner then it has the best non-buffet breakfast in town.

Book all places in advance; it can%26#39;t hurt to plan.

Have a great honeymoon

Definitely choose the Prime. Dining is inside only. The outside terrace over the water has to be reserved if you want to have a drink there. It%26#39;s a good plan to have an after dinner drink or coffee there so you can watch the fountains. And make your reservations for dinner as quickly as possible. Do not wait until you arrive. The Prime is absolutely beautiful and very romantic. We had a table of 8 and everyone had a fabulous dinner. And yes you can see the fountains depending on where your table is located. Be sure to request the view if you wish it. Dress is casual elegant. No one underdresses at the Prime.

@ IVegas - I did a search for the eating inside or outside Prime but couldnt find anything so I posted and thought why not add some things which were in my head at the same time.

@ gabbygambler - Thanks for the information! We are getting it booked this evening. Hope it isnt too late, we are totally flexable for times though so fingers crossed. We had seen Alize before, but we are now considering it again after you reminded us about it. Good call on Mon Ami Gabi for lunch to.

@ troublelove - Thanks for recommending The Venetian, we are looking there now as my wife wants to try a Gondala [spelling] ride to. So would be good to couple it up. Checking out The Mix now to. Nice info on Bouchon for breakfast to, we are looking for nice breakfasts to start the day, so that might be ideal!

@ ddbach - Thanks for the info on Prime. Do I have to book seats to sit outside when I book the table to dine? Are all the seats out there reservation only? Or is there anywhere we can stand outside with a drink that is part of Prime?

Cheers everyone.

Bear...ask for a reserved table outside when you make your inside reservations. It is a small deck area. We were unaware of this when we made our reservations. We saw the deck after dinner and wanted to have a drink but were told reservations only. Considering we had just dropped about $1500 for dinner, we thought the manager would help. He did and we were seated. That area is the only area we found that you can be outside but you might want to ask the Bellagio.
