Platinum Hotel vs Desert Rose Resort

We currently have a reservation for three nights of our upcoming trip in June at the Platinum for a good price ($107/night). Today I saw the 7 Day Sale on Orbitz for 20% off, plus they have some hotels on special if you book for three nights. While this sale doesn%26#39;t bring the Platinum down that much, it gives a really good price on the Desert Rose. Plus the DR includes breakfast.

I am so torn as to what to do. The Platinum looks a bit nicer, and has a jacuzzi tub. But the DR gets good reviews also, and would save us about $120 over the three nights. Oy vey! What to do?

Any sage words of advice form anyone that has stayed at either, of both?

Neither place. Treat yourself to a hotel casino on the strip, even if its the cheapest one. and booking direct with the hotel has many advantages.

The Platinum is a very nice place with a good location just off the mid strip. Very walkable.

Thanks for your advice, mtroh. I am not looking for a hotel on the strip, even though I am aware of the specials, and could book one much cheaper. Not everyone wants to stay at a strip hotel. I am looking for a nice condohotel off-strip, which is why my question is specifically about the Platinum and the Desert Rose. I also looked into the Signature.

Definitely keep your reservation at the Platinum Hotel. You got a very good deal for only $107/night. The rooms at the Platinum are very nice, I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll be disappointed. I haven%26#39;t stayed at the Desert Rose so, I can%26#39;t comment on it.

Hi Paris

Stayed at the Platinum in June last year. Had a Princess suite i think. I thought the room was as nice as THEhotel at mandalay plus it had a washing machine and a lovely kitchen. My girlfriend loved it as she could lay by the pool and be in the room in literally 2mins for something to eat as there is no long walk through the casino to get to the lift.

I%26#39;ve been to vegas at least 10 times and have stayed in Strip hotels and off strip and wouldn%26#39;t hesitate to stay in Platinum again. Off again in a couple of weeks and staying in Suncoast this time as love that place also!!

I have not stayed at Desert Rose but Platinum is my hotel of choice and you are getting a better rate than I did for May.

I like to gamble but I don%26#39;t want to see droolers at the slots first thing in the morning.

You get a full kitchen so you can relax in the room for breakfast.

They don%26#39;t charge for use of the exercise room, nice spa

The entire property is non smoking

2 Happy hours one from 5-7 the other 11-1

Have you checked vrbo for the Platinum? It could save you quite a bit of $$...my husband and son stayed there for my son%26#39;s 21st b-day, and they liked it. I booked it thru vrbo and got a princess suite for the price of the smaller 1 bedroom.

Thanks for all your advice. We have decided to stick with the Platinum.

Hadn%26#39;t thought to try vrbo, so just had a look, and the rate I am getting is still less than any of the owners, and I have read that people regularly get upgraded to the larger suite. Go figure! Thanks for the suggestion though.
