Get Away Day

Will be in Vegas next week for 5 nights and want to plan a get away day on day 3 just to unwind a bit. Will have a rental car.

Not looking for a long trip or to see any tourist attractions, just somewhere to drive, relax and enjoy some desert scenery. I%26#39;ve never driven through a desert so maybe an hour drive (one-way) with nothing but desert. Wouldn%26#39;t mind making a pit stop at a desolate casino or Mexican resteraunt or something like that.

Any suggestions on which direction?

Valley of Fire would be a perfect place for you to go!

Get Away Day

Definitely go to Valley of Fire. It has fantastic scenery that will knock your socks off. You can just drive through stopping at different formations but to truly enjoy its beauty you should hike on some of its trails. Just bring plenty of water and wear appropriate shoes- some of the trails are sandy. Bring lunch and have a picnic in its picnic area. You can combine it with a trip to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead.
