Grand Canyon in Janurary

Is it a bad idea to plan a 2 or 3 day trip to grand canyon in January. Wife and I are considering arriving in Vegas on a Sunday. Spend Sunday night in Vegas, drive to grand canyon and spend Mon/Tue night at the Canyon and drive back Thursday to Vegas. My concern is the weather in January may make for a miserable trip to the canyon. Anyone have any opinion on a January trip to the Canyon ??

You could face a real blast of winter in undertaking that trip. But, unless they are calling for blizzard conditions on the road, I would not let the cold weather stop you. You will be able to experience the Canyon in solitude without the summer crowds. One night would probably be sufficient. Go for it and enjoy!

If the roads are OK, make the trip. Even if it%26#39;s cold you%26#39;ll enjoy the canyon. If possible stay at El Tovar.

Bad idea, unless you are into cold, wet, icy windy weather.

Go to The Arizona%26gt;Grand Canyon National Park forum and research ';January'; or pose your question there. You%26#39;ll get the straight scoop and avoid uninformed chatter.
