Time Differance

Hello

When we arrive in Las Vegas at 13.45pm. For us flying from England it will be around 9 or 10pm

Not sure of the time difference.

However my question, how do you cope with this.

I have never had to deal with problem before.

Would be grateful for some suggestions of managing the time differance.

Many thanks.

Time Differance

Vegas is 8 hours behind England.

I try really hard to stay up as late as possible. If I manage to stay up til around 11pm LV time then I don%26#39;t get such bad jet lag. This hasn%26#39;t actually happened yet though. One tip is to eat light the day you get there, a heavy meal will make you really sleepy and you may end up sleeping earlier than you wished. I%26#39;d say staying outdoors in the fresh air as much as possible on that first day is a good idea as well.

Time Differance

Hi

Yes, stay up as late as you can the first night. It will help but we always wake up really early for the first few days when we are in the states.

Clive

Have several Martini%26#39;s, Take a hot shower, Take a nap.

When U wake, go drink and gamble awhile.

Forget the clock the first day.

It%26#39;s easy all you have to do is sleep when you are tired and eat when you are hungry.

When I traveled long distance whether it is to Europe or Asia, I always use the destination time zone as my guideline to help adjust my body clock.

So if I landed in the city in the daytime, I will force myself to stay awake during those hours no matter how tired I am (or what my hometown clock said, in fact, I would have adjusted my watch to local time already so I dont care what my hometown time was). I would have taken interval naps (no matter how hard it is, I used ear plugs, eye mask), plenty of hydration, got up a few times to stretch and exercise up and down the aisle to keep the body more prepared for the stress of flying long distance. And I abstained from alcohol and sedatives. I also wear loose fitting clothes and comfortable slip off shoes.

Vegas is open 24/7 so really no need to adjust time zones. I tend to sleep very little there since it can easily be 4 am or 4 pm in the casino and you won%26#39;t know the difference.

Stay up late the night before your departure and try to sleep as late as you can that morning. This will start you getting adjusted to the eight hour time difference. The excitement when you land will take care of the rest.

I%26#39;ve always found westbound travel from Europe to be easy - it is the eastbound flights that are a killer when it comes to jet lag. Hope you have a recovery day upon your return to England.

Many thanks for all the good advice.

We always set our watches to the time of the place we%26#39;re going to as soon as we are on the plane. It helps get your mind in the right time zone! When we get there, we will do our best to stay awake until about 9pm, and then wake up at around 7am the next day. This has worked pretty well every year we%26#39;ve been to America, and we%26#39;ve never been that tired on our first full day there, though it%26#39;s always best to take it easy on the first full day, as you will be more tired than usual.

Yeah, flying with the sun is less traumatic than flying into the sun.

As another poster mentioned, set your watch at your destination time. I know it%26#39;s 3 hours difference from

EDT.

What I find curious is the times in London. Greenwich has an hour diference and it%26#39;s right there!

Something to do with a system that doesn%26#39;t exist anymore, namely GMT. Goodbye GMT hello UTC and Zulu.

Thank you once again. I will do as suggested and set our watches to the time zone of Las Vegas when we are on the plane. This seems like a very good idea to get used to the time difference.
