What to do other than gamble, see shows & Grand Canyon etc?

Hi, w

We took our sons to Vegas when they were in their teens and did shows, Grand Canyon and the Dam.

Now they are in their 20s (and into poker), they%26#39;d like to go back with us for a week, sometime.

My husband and I, though we%26#39;ll be happy playing a few machines, don%26#39;t gamble.

We don%26#39;t want to see shows or visit the Grand Canyon again, we are trying to lose weight so need to avoid the all-you-can-eat buffets and alcohol.....gosh we sound saddos!

So, please can you tell me what we might find to do while our sons make their fortunes?

Many thanks

Elaine

You do realize that the shows you saw years ago aren%26#39;t the same shows that are playing in LV now, right? Most the shows now playing are new, so you might want to check some of them out.

Aside from that, you can tour Red Rock and Valley of Fire, even Death Valley if you%26#39;re up to it. Go to the Strat and ride all the crazy rides at the top. Go to a spa for a massage or other treatment. Walk the strip and see the sights. Lounge by the pool.

I%26#39;m not a gambler, other than playing slots a bit, and only did one show while I was there.

I spent a lot of time relaxing by the pool and then, in the evening, walking the strip and checking out the different hotels and attractions...great way to get exercise if you%26#39;re trying to loose weight.

There are so many free and low cost attractions to see. justw alking through some of the hotels is amazing.

Also did a day trip to Valley of Fire. Beautiful scenery, peaceful and an easy drive from the strip

Death Valley is a GREAT day trip if you have a rental car. It%26#39;s about two hours from Las Vegas.

Also, there is a ton of museums in Vegas. I suggest the Boneyard of the Neon Museum. Fascinating look at all the old neon signs from days past. Check out the details on the Neon Museum%26#39;s website.

We really enjoyed camping out by the pool during the day til about 2 - then relaxing in room.

Then head down the strip and walk thru some of the newest casino hotels.

You will find alot to do while discovering each hotel.

Any reason why you and your husband have to go with your 20-something sons? Can you possibly visit another part of the US, while they are in Vegas? While I%26#39;m sure you like to spend time with them, it just seems like another destiniation might fit the needs of you and your husband better. With that said...

As others have said, walking the Strip is great exercise, as can be swimming in a pool. Buffets are easy to avoid - just don%26#39;t go to them. Same with alcohol, just don%26#39;t order it. If you haven%26#39;t been to Vegas in a decade then lots has changed and you should have many new places to explore.

I%26#39;m just not quite sure why you would accompany your sons to Vegas if you are worried you will be bored there. Not trying to ruin your plans, just trying to understand. Any chance this will be part of an extended trip to multiple places in the US, so you can head to someplace like San Francisco that week while they are in Vegas?

Go to a spa; shop-regular malls and discount malls; see Valley Of Fire; take a Lake Mead paddle boat cruise; visit the Titanic Exhibition. You don%26#39;t have to hit the buffets or stuff yourself- pick one great resaurant for one great meal. Just popping in and out of the various hotels to see the attractions will take up a good chunk of time.

Go to a spa, hang at a nice pool , go shopping, go hiking, see some new shows, crack a bottel of champagne, and make whoopie! Doesn%26#39;t that sound great?
