The MGM Grand smell

We stayed at the MGM Grand last year (first time in Vegas!) and there was something about the way the lobby and hotel smelled that I can%26#39;t get out of my mind. I know I%26#39;m probably just associating the whole Vegas experience with that smell, but I need more of that scent. hah

I lost the lotion and shampoo I took from the hotel. Does anyone know if the ';MGM Grand Perfume'; you can buy online has the same scent? I%26#39;m assuming it does but I don%26#39;t want to order it and find out it smells totally different.

Thanks in advance. :)

The MGM Grand smell

Haha! The very first thing i told my wife in september right before we walked in, was ';youre going to remember this smell...'; And I hadnt been there in 7 years! Sure enough, it hit me and I was FINALLY in vegas. Now we are going back with my family in 2 weeks, and she says every now and again, ';I cant wait to get that MGM smell.'; (I know it sounds wierd, but its true!)

But no, dont know if they sell it, sorry! Just though Id let you know you arent alone

The MGM Grand smell

I don%26#39;t know what it is either . . . but LOVE it. Every now and then I%26#39;ll catch that scent somewhere other than MGM . . . always takes me back.

I%26#39;m gonna monitor this thread. I%26#39;d really like to know what it is, too. Perhaps it%26#39;s a question for LVA QOD!

Hah! It%26#39;s good to know I%26#39;m not the only one. That smell is so unique. I%26#39;ve never smelled anything like it. I can%26#39;t wait to go back. Even if we don%26#39;t stay at the MGM, I%26#39;ll have to visit just to get that smell. ;)

My co-worker talks about the ';MGM smell';, too. I didn%26#39;t pick up on it last time I was there (despite great blackjack rules, I always get killed at MGM). Now Mandalay Bay I remember! That was a nice smelling casino.

There must be something wrong with me...MGM is one place I don%26#39;t smell anything!! LOL..maybe I need to try going in a different entrance (I always come up from the Monorail station there). Other places...the Venetian (smells like cheap Shalimar), Mirage %26amp; TI smell tropical...Mandalay Bay smells like suntan lotion.....but MGM I just don%26#39;t smell anything! =)

The MGM smell was especially strong in the lobby. It was my first time in Vegas, I%26#39;ve never seen anything so over-the-top, and we walked into the MGM Grand lobby and were completely overpowered by the scent. Next time you%26#39;re there, stop by the lobby and you%26#39;ll see what we%26#39;re talking about. ;)

Yup, the smell is definitely associated with the MGM lobby - I don%26#39;t notice it in other parts of the complex. Since the lobby is one of the few areas of MGM that does not have carpeting, I suspect the scent (which reminds me of disinfectant) has something to do with the products they use to clean and polish the floor.

To me, it%26#39;s not so much a good scent or a bad scent. It%26#39;s just the MGM scent, and if I%26#39;m staying there it%26#39;s a sensory confirmation that I am back in Sin City for real.

we were just there last week and just like every other time... I LOVED the smell. It hits you the moment you walk in. And yes, I DO associate it with the whole Vegas Experience too!

It%26#39;s my favorite smell lol! I hoarded my shampoo %26amp; shower gel so I could keep it as long as possible. I am going back in March to get a refill!

Hey gang, Cruiser is back (at least for now!)

I recall seeing the P.R. guy for MGM-Mirage state for a fact on a Travel Channel special that they do pump in fragrances into the lobbies of their casinos, not really into the casino or hotel portions though. This is not to be confused with the myth that casinos pump purified oxygen into the casinos to (supposedly) make you more alert. I can definitely tell I%26#39;m back at the MGM, even if you blindfolded me once I got off the plane and drove me around for an hour. I can%26#39;t answer the perfume question, but I wouldn%26#39;t mind a spritz here and there in my apartment when I%26#39;m feeling depressed I can%26#39;t be in Vegas!
