desert drive

Rent a car for about $12/day plus gas and drive anywhere. Just got back and went to Area 51 Northeast of town about 3 hr drive each way. Also, went to Death Valley about 3 hrs. Northwest of town. If you haven%26#39;t visited desert before it is athing of beauty especially in Spring w/ all different kinds of blooms. Of course, Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon has tour bus trips as well.

Agree...this past trip we drove through the Lake Mead National Park and went to Valley of Fire. It was spectacular.

We also drove to Laughlin then on to see London Bridge at Lake Havasu one time.

Oh then then there was the trip last year from Vegas to Reno and back :)

You don%26#39;t ever want to take a bus tour. It is a waste of time and money. You waste time picking up other people and then dropping them off after the tour. You are on THEIR schedule and not your own. You will see what they want you to see rather than what you want to see. You can%26#39;t stay later or leave earlier. Some stop at places for lunch etc.-places you may not want to see. It is usually more expensive than just renting a car for the day. Once you have the car- you can then go to other off strip casinos and restaurants. Always rent a car!

If you don%26#39;t want to drive 3 hours- definitely go to Valley of Fire. The sandstone formations are breathtaking! It is only an hour away from the strip and it is well worth going to! It has some great hiking trails. It can be combined with a trip to Hoover Dam/ Lake Mead.
