...hotel, show and restaurant reviews following your trip(s)?
So many TA members post really awesome trip reports on the Vegas forum that contain detailed and entertaining reviews of their dining experiences, shows that they attended and hotels they stayed in. I notice that a lot of TA forum regulars that are quite experienced with their Vegas travels have not spent the time to post seperate reviews specific to a hotel, restaurant or show. I believe that these review sections reach a wider audience than the forum. Just wondering if this is personal choice or an overlooked area...........
Thanks for your feedback.
Have a beautiful day :-D

Do you contribute to TA.....
no - personal choice for me.
I think the reviews on TA are useless - since the reader has no knowledge of the reviewer.
No standards or guidelines to use as a base. Many travel reviews available where standards are known and comparisons can be done easier.
Posting on the forum let%26#39;s people give opinions and the reader can sometimes dtermine if the poster and the reader have similar tatstes. VP03 and I have same tastes in dining - no buffets, love Alize %26amp; Prime, etc. So if I wanted an opinion on a restaurant I had not tried and don%26#39;t know anyone personally who had, I would lend more weight to her thoughts on the establishment than I would on someone who thinks buffets are great.
All of us are differnt and have different tastes.
I don;t write TR%26#39;s, rarely read them through, we will start reading some if the title seems interesting, usually don%26#39;t get to far.
All boils down to personal choice, how you choose to spend your time.
The first TR I ever posted was in January and it was trashed by a certain rude member who considered it too ';chatty'; - whatever that means when talking about the real fun Vegas stuff.
I just got back from a very exciting and interesting 10 day trip a week ago and don%26#39;t believe I will bother posting about it. Hubby and I on the ';250,000 Game Show';, private photo shoot with Big Elvis in his dressing room, huge suite at Bill%26#39;s (room 253 w/ 7 phones, 3 flat screen tv%26#39;s, 3 bathrooms, jacuzzi, huge marble shower, frig. and icemaker, bar w/6 stools, dining table w/6 chairs, ezquisite furnishings, huge walk-in closet, etc. etc. etc.), a Hilton slot tourney victory, meeting several TA members at a Big Elvis show, and so much more.
Too many people have been trashed by a few rude members and it scared off a lot of people who would have otherwise posted about their very special Vegas visit.
Well,it%26#39;s too bad-so sad for those of us who enjoy the thoughts and experiences of ALL people. From the rowdy ones to the mellow ones. The poorer ones to the richer ones. I love them all!!!
I agree with Bridgey sort of. (nice job getting the %26#39;i%26#39; before the %26#39;c%26#39; Bridge)
Although I did write a review of my El Cortez experience since I was so pleasantly surprised by the hotel, I generally don%26#39;t write them because most of the facts are already stated in others%26#39; reviews. Unlike most people, I don%26#39;t write bitter reviews if I%26#39;m not completely satisfied, I tend to contribute more if I%26#39;m impressed.
As for restaurant reviews or recommendations, I take all of them with a grain of salt.

Hey hourglass, that is a ton of detailed info from someone who ';isn%26#39;t going to write a trip report';.
Doc, I thought I remember reading a TR in more than one installment of your last Vegas trip! You also report via some of your posts like many of us do when replying to a thread, we tell our own experiences, it%26#39;s only natural to do so. Had me rolling when I read (I may be wrong here on exactly what happened though!)about your being with 21 player and being tunneled or else the cabbie took the long route and you were livid about it, even more so when 21 player paid the guy when you were trying to get ahold of the authorities to report the cabbie!
Anyway, a TR here in forum format is what I do, have only done a couple of real reviews, reviews by strangers that we don%26#39;t know really should be taken with a grain of salt, I think. However, I do listen to people I know and have met personally. For instance, if glittergal told me something was good or bad, I%26#39;d believe her but then I also know her, makes a big difference.
Gabby I, and I believe the OP are talking about posting reviews under their appropriate headings and not some random, drunken memory rambling that is a trip report. Yes I did reoprt on some of my experiences but that was here in the forum and not a written review under the GVR hotel review section.
u2,
I do write reviews on the hotel where I stay at good or bad. I always (almost) do a TR on the forum, because I get tons of info from others and I hope that they may get some from me that they can use. I think (hope) most people realize that a review is just that%26#39;s persons opinion and yours may be better - worse - or the same.
Hourglass, don%26#39;t worry about people who trash TR, usually they do that to everyone and it%26#39;s more a reflection of their personality. I enjoy hearing about people%26#39;s personal experiences and I always get some info that helps me for future trips. Your short reponse to this post made me want to hear more.

Hour glass,
Did you win anything on the game show? It sounds like your TR would be chockful of interesting things. Maybe you should should say what the heck and post that TR.
u2tuf,
I have also refrained from posting reviews since we all have such different tastes and frames of reference. I am more likely to look for reviews in LVRJ or Frommer%26#39;s, Fodor%26#39;s guide books.
I like the forum better because the various opinions seem to give a better balance of like verses dislikes.
I would hate to make a decision on what I read in the reviews only but I am sure they are helpful to some folks researching their options.
I make sure to post a review, especially if I have a great experience- someone%26#39;s got to balance out all the nitpicky negative reviews to help calm the fears of paranoid TA reviewers who worry about negative reviews. I read a lot of the reviews myself when trying to figure out if a hotel has ';let itself go'; so I%26#39;m happy to return the favor.
