What's the Largest Denomination Chips that Casinos have ?

I%26#39;m sure most of us won%26#39;t get to own them !

but i%26#39;d imagine the bigger casinos have 50000 chips at least ?

What's the Largest Denomination Chips that Casinos have ?

No such thing.

A Casino Chip is awarded a value as prescribed by the casino owner.

That said, currently, most casino%26#39;s offer a $1000 dollar chip, used primarily for ';Coloring Up'; at the tables. In order to redeem said chip, usually the cage will request a floor supervisor to verify it%26#39;s issueing to the individual.

White or Blue chips are one dollar.

Red chips are five dollars and are called nickels.

Green chips are twenty-five dollars and are called quarters.

Black chips are one hundred dollars.

Purple Chips are five hundred dollars and are called Barneys.

Orange chips are one thousand dollars and are called pumpkins.

Bellagio has $5000 chips called cranberries.

where do you get this idea? High limit areas have plent of 1K, 5K and 10K and above chips in the racks which are used daily. When buying in for 5K at a $500 table not many $5 chips are needed by the player.

I%26#39;ve never had a casino cage call anyone to cash in a 1K chip - some casinos might, it%26#39;s certainly not true in all casinos.

Usually in LV the lower denomination chips are as someone copied above, although it is not required. The higher donominations are more likely to vary by casino. When copying from the Internet why not just give the link(s) and let people read for themselves

BridgeFan your to much :)

You are correct that there are higher denomination chips in play, and as I stated, a casino owner could value a chip as $1,000,000.00 if they so chose.

Binions in fact did issue ten $1,000,000.00 chips for a poker game some years ago.

My statements were as a general rule, not copied, but from years of information gathered as a die hard chip and token collector.

A casino operator cannot issue just any chip denomination they desire, as in the Slots-A-Fun deciding to carry $1M checks just for the heck of it.

All chips have to be approved by %26amp; registered with the Nevada Gaming Commission, and there has to be sufficient ';bankroll'; backing up all of the chips the casino issues, or ';has in play';, which is determined by a strict formula.

Many Las Vegas casinos have $100,000 chips (some with more than one type), from such high-roller clubs as Wynn or Bellagio down to scum-suckers like the Riviera.

Even decorative or commerative chips require Commission review and listing.

For a comprehensive list of those currently approved in Nevada casinos see all 1,041 pages of:

鈥v.gov/documents/pdf/chip_token_hist.pdf

Never have seen a $1M chip even in the biggest poker tournaments. Nowadays they do use $250,000 ones in the final tables of the WSOP main event and a couple of the other mega ones.

But, it must be remembered a tournament chip is absolutely worthless (no cash value), it is just a token for keeping score in an on-going competition.

I was someplace where there were some chips in the till that looked like they were alternating pink and black - wonder what those were.

I know in the high roller suites at Wynn, they have 50K, 100K and 250K ';cards';. I don%26#39;t know if they fall under the same governance as chips or not.

MGG, they are called ';plaques';...

And, yes they are covered by the same Gaming Commission rules which govern all chips and tokens.

If you look at page 743 of the website I previously posted, you will see their reference (note is says they are also imbedded with a microchip).

However, they show a top denomination of $100K, and the list is shown as last updated in Feb 2008. So if those $250K plaques are out there, they must be fairly new.

Most (okay all) $1000 chips I have seen have been Yellow (bananas) and the $5000 are brown (chocolate). Higher than that have YET to enter my pocket.
