Hey guys,
I%26#39;m planning a trip to Las Vegas for my mom%26#39;s 50th birthday this fall. She has requested not to stay on the strip. I have narrowed my search down to these two hotels. The rates are similar, South Point is $60 more total than Orleans so price isn%26#39;t really an issue when deciding.
So, please help me. Thanks!!
Orleans or South Point....help me decide?
My personal choice would be South Point. Much newer. Opened in December of 2005, so just over 2 years old.
They are expanding so ask for a room away from construction. Shuttle to Mandalay Bay and airport.
Orleans or South Point....help me decide?
I%26#39;ve been to both and loved South Point. The rooms are very nice and the beds are so comfortable. Nice big bathrooms. Buffet was good. It is farther away from the strip. It is closer to the outlet mall.
The Orleans is off strip, but the area is still busy. Closer to the strip. The beds were average. Big bathroom too. More choices for eating. Good buffet. I thought it was easier to get from the room to parking. Pool is open at Orleans. I was at South Point in November and the pool was closed because of construction. I don%26#39;t know if it will be open in fall or if mom will want to go in the pool. I am your Mother%26#39;s age if that helps.
I%26#39;ve stayed at both and I would pick South Point because it is newer and I liked the rooms better. The casino is brighter and it is easy to park and walk in - or valet. I was there last October and the pool was open.
If your mother is interested in visiting the strip then I would choose The Orleans because of the shuttle service. I like The Orleans overall and would feel too isolated at South Point without transportation although SP does have a shuttle that goes to Mandalay Bay.
Thanks for the quick responses.
Does anyone know when construction will end @ South Point?
Also, what is the taxi cost to the strip from South Point?
Southpoint is better.
Better class of people. Less RUG RATS.
Rent a car for mobility
Request 23rd floor, Facing the EAST.
VEGASVARMENT,
I%26#39;m leaning towards Orleans for the same reason--location. South Point seems really far from everything. Orleans is a nice compromise....not on the strip but not too far from the strip. I%26#39;ve never been to Vegas and personally would prefer staying on the Strip but it%26#39;s my mom%26#39;s b-day so whatever she wants she%26#39;ll get.
Thanks everyone for your help!
Southpoint and agree with Patron to request room facing east, and I (THINK) the construction is close to being done...call to SP would confirm status for you.
Oh and if you do choose Orleans...we like it too but SP is just our fav!
Silver, The Orleans was the first hotel I stayed in on my first trip and I%26#39;m glad I did. Because of the shuttle, I got to see a lot of the strip but really enjoyed all that The Orleans had to offer as far as gaming, 13 eating establishments and even a movie theatre if you want.
Orleans on the weekend caters too the EAST LA crowd.
If you like that kind of atomspehre
Orleans is not the casino it was 3 years ago.
Southpoint and a rental car gives U mobility anywhere in a short time.
